How to register your business. When I think about business, I think passion. The owner who created the business must have a great purpose, a longing passion or see a great need for their services or products. It takes a bold individual or individuals to create. Whether for financial reasons, creative reasons, a cause, for health or just for fun, I do believe that when you get the opportunity to do so you should go for it. But what if you finally get the guts to start but have no direction of how to go about doing so? Here are a few steps to go by: Figure out whether you will like to own the company yourself or have multiple ownership. Apply for an IRS Employer Identification number or EIN. Register with your state as a business. Obtain county and city business license. If corporation, file letters of incorporation. If partnership, create and sign partnership agreement. Purchase insurance plan(s). Create company Web site. Web site address: Choose an accounting method: [Cash/Accrual] Select and purchase accounting software. Install and set up accounting software. Open a business banking account. Obtain a business credit card. Consider contracting with payroll processing firm and/or record-keeping firm. Establish a salary agreement for each owner.
